Three day Negev/Eilat Tiyul
Discovery Seminar at Aish HaTorah
Shechita in Yeshiva

The Path of the Lamed Hey
On Thursday afternoon, November 3rd, Lev HaTorah went back to Israel pre-state, and traced the battle of the 35 soldiers of the Palmach attempting to break the siege on Gush Etzion.  We began at the starting point of the 35, not far from Yeshiva, and followed in their footsteps until the mountain where they faced their bitter end.  We focused on the Mesirut Nefesh of these 35 soldiers, and the historical importance of the Palmach, and Gush Etzion.  To view pictures click here.

Hakafot Shniyot
After an energetic Simchat Torah in Yeshiva, as the custom in Israel, Lev HaTorah hosted Hakafor Shniyot with a band on Motzei Simchat Torah.  Hundreds, of community members, kids from the community, and Yeshiva boys participated in a beautiful lively Hakafot Shniyot. To view photos click here.

The Lev Softball Tournament
Before "Choref Zman" began the Yeshiva went out to a nearby Kibbutz to play an intense but fun Softball tournament.  The Teams were split up by respective shiurs, with the Rabbeim leading the teams.  It was a fun day and a great opportunity to come back and create a great environment for all to get reaquainted with the guys and Rabbeim of the yeshiva. Chessed Day in Yerushalayim
Based on Chazal's teaching that "the Torah begins with Chesed and Ends with Chesed" we begin the main learning "zman" with a day dedicated to Chesed in Yerushalayim.  The boys were all over Yerushalayim, working in soup kitchens, old Age homes, visiting hospitals, food packaging centers, painting houses, and building gardens in poor areas of Yerushalayim.  The day ended with everyone joining together at Sanhedria Orphanage in Katamon, for a unforgettable time with the kids of Sanhedria, having a full program which ended in a dance around their Basketball Court.  This day made a great impression on the boys, and has opened our eyes to a world of giving. Tefillin Factory
As part of our Thursday Torat Chaim Seminar's, we visited a Tefillin Factory in Beit Shemesh.  We watched the process of Tefillin from the first stages, skins of cow's heads, all the way to the beautiful black boxes that we see today.  Each part of the process was explained and observed by the guys.  A true appreciation for Tefillin was gained by seeing the process of its creation.  Upon returning to yeshiva we had a Sofer, Rabbi Shmuel Rosenfeld, speak about the inside of Tefillin and what goes into a Kosher pair of Tefillin.
