Lev HaYayin – Winemaking at its finest
Love of Eretz Yisrael can come through learning her Torah, touring her land, and also smashing her grapes with one’s bare feet along with twenty other guys. Just before the holidays began, for purposes of pulverization by foot, a 130-kilogram delivery of grapes arrived at Lev HaTorah from Har Bracha, a yishuv near Shechem known for its high-quality grapes. After de-stemming the grapes, we had the privilege of stomping on the grapes, the old-fashioned way, and thus began the process of our prestigious wine making. After the fermentation process was completed, we pressed the grapes, and they are currently fermenting in special wine jugs within the yeshiva. We hope to bottle the wine before Purim.

Sukkah Building for Single-Mother Families in Ramat Bet Shemesh
On the Thursday before Yom Kippur, in conjunction with L’maan Achai (the community chessed organization of Ramat Bet Shemesh) students built Sukkot for single- mother households as well as other needy residents of RBS who are unfortunately plagued by illness or monetary struggles. By day’s end, we had built thirty Sukkot - a true accomplishment.  Baruch Hashem we were able to sit in our own Sukkot, enjoying the Chag, with the satisfaction that several of the less fortunate souls of our community were doing likewise.

21 Talmidim Successfully Complete Yam L’Yam
On Motzei Yom Kippur, a group of over 20 Talmidim set off on that legendary “bein hazmanim” journey known as “Yam L’Yam,” a 75 Kilometer hike from the Mediterranean ocean to the Kinneret, the Sea of Galilee. Backpacking over mountains, through valleys, and across rivers was a truly unique and memorable experience for the boys. A big Yashar Koach to them for completing the lengthy trek; they were up against grueling conditions and came out on top. Many thanks to Sam Weprin for his help with the technical arrangements of this trip and for the motivation he instilled in the group.

A Simchat Bet HaShoeva in the Sukkah of Rav Machlis and Family – A True Simcha
On Monday night of Chol HaMoed, Rav Machlis hosted the entire yeshiva along with all of Klal Yisrael at his enormous Sukkah in Maalot Daphna for his annual Simchat Bet HaShoeva celebration. The Shechinah was certainly hovering between the walls that night as the Machlis Sukkah pulsated with words of Torah, the rhythm of song, and the rumble of dancing feet. The super-human hachnasat orchim (hospitality) of the Machlis family was even warmer than the delicious meal. After they bid farewell to Rav Machlis and his family, many of the boys took advantage of the opportunity to go Simchat Bet HaShoeva hopping in Mea Shearim.

A Rocking Hakafot Shniyot in Yeshiva
After a day of great Hakafot, as is customary in Israel, Lev HaTorah kept the simcha going with Hakafot Shniyot (a wonderful tradition which was enjoyed by all the boys, no matter if they were keeping a one or two-day Yom Tov).  These Hakafot, like the first ones, were filled with energy and honor for the Torah. The boys danced around the Torah with tremendous fervor and sang the appropriate zemirot with sincerity and strength. They were even humorous at times, as the boys pulled out all their comedic stops in order to liven the experience. It was quite the bash indeed.

Yom Chessed
As the Lev HaTorah tradition, before the beginning of the new zman of Yeshiva, the Talmidim spend a day in Yershalayim involved with Chessed Projects.  From Soup Kitchens to Food packaging the boys were busy in the morning taking care of the needy of Yerushalayim.  We ended the day with an evening of games, laughs, songs with the boys from Sanhedriah Orphanage.  It is a unforgettable experience seeing the smiles on children who saw so much pain in their lives.
