May 2006 - Special Jewish Non-Profit Management Edition
The field of Jewish non-profit management is burgeoning. Professionals with management skills are in high demand. Employees with social work and other backgrounds are asked to take on responsibilities for which they have little formal training. They are seeking the knowledge and the tools to be successful.
Recognizing the need to provide practical skills to Jewish non-profit management professionals prompted Gratz College, an independent college of Jewish studies in the Philadelphia, PA area, to create an Online Graduate Certificate in Jewish Non-Profit Management. The skills are universal; the practical application of our courses to Jewish communal service organizations makes our program truly unique. Problems facing Jewish agencies are often different from those faced by non-Jewish ones. Our courses take this into account. Our focus on case studies, real life examples and the study of contemporary Jewish issues allows our students to flourish in an academic environment that has been training Jewish professionals for over a century.
The mission of Gratz College has always been to impart academic knowledge as well as practical expertise to afford our students the ability to thrive in their work environments thereby enabling their organizations to achieve their goals and objectives.
This summer, we are offering two outstanding courses: Strategic Planning for Non-Profit Managers in the Jewish Community and Leadership in Jewish Communal Organizations.
This e-newsletter is our first edition to concentrate on Jewish Non-Profit Management. It includes articles and information that are intended to enrich you as professionals and as Jews. That is the structure of all of our degrees and professional programs. If you have any questions about our Jewish non-profit management program or those in Jewish studies, Jewish education and Jewish early childhood education, feel free to contact me at rticker@gratz.edu.
